Was John the Baptist Baptized? Based on my interpretation the answer is yes. The question is how. John the Baptist was given the authority to Baptize from Heaven. This is important to recognize, since John Baptized many prior to his own Baptism. At church only those that have been Baptized Baptize new believers. It is like the teacher and the student. However, the Baptism of John the Baptist is unique. Why? John the Baptist was a sinner and Jesus was not. So as a sinner and Baptizing one who is without sin what does that make John the Baptist? It made him sinless. John the Baptist was a true Christ like example. Moreover, Jesus gave John the authority to receive his Baptism from Jesus. Similar to one who gets a PHD without the credit hours, but the work to show it was deserved. In this Baptism of John the Baptist, does Jesus look like a King who should be served or a King who is a servant? Do I desire to be John the Baptist? Why do I ask? John the Baptist ministered to the homeless. He ate bugs with honey. I live in a home, so if I behaved like John the Baptist my neighbors would not relate to me. The point is that John the Baptist took risks preparing the way. He could relate to those around him, and he drew a large following. I encourage you to reach out to those around you and take risks to show them how much God loves them. There is only one rule we have to follow, become a servant and accept Jesus Christ. How does that make you a servant? If you can't do something on your own and you ask for their help, then you are a servant. If you can do the task on your own and you still choose to serve others, then that is called LOVE. When we are Baptized our sins are forgiven by Jesus Christ. We become born again. Since our sins are forgiven we become sinless, however this does not mean we will not sin again. We can fall again just like Adam and Eve. It is still important that we repent and ask Christ for forgiveness of a sinful act. Jesus spoke of this issue in the parable of the wedding banquet. Lastly, when we repent and confess our sins to God we are seeking his forgiveness (Matthew 3:2-6). John the Baptist was the wisest man that ever lived.
If we look at the church, in order to baptize someone you must first be
baptized. THIS IS THE MAIN POINT.
There is no record of anyone baptizing
John before he started baptizing for the forgiveness of sin. There are
scriptures that point to this issue, even Christ pointed this out.
When Jesus was Baptized by John the Baptist he (John the Baptist)
received forgiveness of sin. , which is even more evidence that John the Baptist
was the greatest man that ever lived aside from Jesus.
How do we know that John was Baptized or received forgiveness of sin when
he baptized Jesus. Well, Jesus did
not need to be forgiven of any sin.
What sin was Jesus forgiving John?
Most likely the inherited sin from Adam and Eve; John the Baptist was not
perfect and as scriptures state he did not have the power to forgive sin.
Jesus could have just told John the Baptist that his sins were forgiven.
However, Jesus humbled himself and allowed John to have great honor when
he (John the Baptist) was baptized (John the Baptists sins were forgiven) for
the forgiveness of sin. If neither
John nor Jesus needed to be Baptized, then that event was meaningless.
When we say that Jesus became sin, we are acknowledging that he took on
our sin or accepted blame for it and was punished on the Cross for them.
Why would he do that? Love |
